R.E.M. Touring with Modest Mouse, The National

NOW WITH TOUR DATES!!! SEE BELOW!!

As the legendary
R.E.M. took the stage for their working rehearsal shows in 2007, I decided to make myself a pact: to see the godfather's of college radio on their next tour. And now, that they have announced who will be supporting them on their upcoming tour, I would not miss it without the shadow of a doubt.

The National recently took the cake as Stranded In Stereo's Album of the Year 2007; after a bunch of critical praise and sold out shows, the band announced on Triple J Radio the other day that, though all details weren't ironed out quite yet, but they would be touring with R.E.M. later this year. Along with Modest Mouse. Good god; I really hope tickets aren't too terribly expensive, because this would be one show I don't want to miss. Reports were confirmed today by both Billboard and the 'Fork. God, I can't really believe this is happening. To gear up for the release of their 14th (?) studio album, Accelerate, R.E.M. teamed up with Vincent Moon for the Ninety Nights project, posting a new clip every day for 90 days leading up to the album's April 1st release. Some feature the band talking, some feature Michael Stipe recording vocals, some feature snippets of songs in live form. Here's the latest clip (which has been removed:)
