A bearded brotherhood is developing betwixt The Roots and TV On The Radio. More specifically, Kyp Malone and Tunde Adebimpe of TV On The Radio, but the image should still stand. Okayplayer broke the news saying that the collaboration was fuled to record a rendition of Soundtrack For A Revolution. Said revolution will also soundtrack a documentary by Corey Smyth (Blacksmith Corp founder) and be produced/directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman.
Zowwie, you say? Add to this an album packed with contemporary interpretations of freedom songs all to be released as a film and soundtrack CD/DVD package. You can also look forward to a track from The Blind Boys of Alabama and Soulive working with Anthony Hamilton. For whatever reason, there is only blog info on this, but you can read up on some of this at the Okayplayer site!
